Celebrating Our Inaugural Community Grants on Giving Tuesday

Today, on Giving Tuesday, the North Peace Community Foundation (NPCF) is honoured to celebrate a milestone in our story, the awarding of our first-ever STRONG ROOTS community endowment grants alongside the first Coastal GasLink Community Fund grants. Together, these community investments total $115,600 in new funding for 2025 and mark the beginning of a growing legacy of generosity in the North Peace and Northern Rockies regions.

These grants represent a shared commitment by our founding and funding partners including the City of Fort St. John’s Legacy Fund, PETRONAS Energy Canada, Peace River Hydro Partners, the BC Community Prosperity Fund (Vancouver Foundation), and TC Energy/Coastal GasLink, to build a strong, kinder, safer, and more resilient region for everyone who calls this place home.

As NPCF Board Chair, Tracey Wolsey, shared, “These grants are rooted in local priorities such as workforce well-being, equity, environment, safety, and learning, and Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to celebrate these contributions and the Foundation’s growth.”

Why This Matters on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement of generosity, but here in the North Peace, it has always been something more. It’s a reminder that community is built by community, and that local philanthropy has the power to change lives close to home.

These inaugural grants aren’t just awards, they are the beginning of a long-term cycle of hope, impact, and local leadership. They also reflect the months of thoughtful planning, partner coordination, and adherence to our integrated communications and granting framework, which guides the Foundation’s approach to equitable, transparent, donor-aligned funding.
