North Peace Savings Community Legacy Fund

The North Peace Savings Community Legacy Fund seeks to empower charitable community service organizations in the North Peace and Northern Rockies, providing a unique opportunity for them to further their programming.

Established by the North Peace Savings and Credit Union this fund is a committed to reinvesting in the communities that have steadfastly supported and enriched the North Peace Savings & Credit Union throughout the years.

Commencing 2024, charitable and non-profit organizations located and serving in the North Peace and the Northern Rockies regions are invited to submit proposals for projects and programs between $5,000 - $50,000 which align with at least one of the Fund's focus areas:

• Empowering Personal Success: Fostering financial literacy initiatives.

• Promoting Healthy Living: Providing essential support for a healthier community.

• Enhancing Food Accessibility: Improving access to and availability of nutritious food.

• Supporting Families with Children: Creating initiatives that benefit families and their children.

Key Dates:

April 15, 2026: Application portal opens

May 15, 2026: Application deadline 11:59 PST

May/June: Applications under review

Late June: Results announced to the applicants

Applications must be submitted online through our website. 

Note: The application portal will not be open until the grant cycle begins. 

City of Fort St. John- Grants in Aid

The City of Fort St. John’s Grants-in-Aid program is administered by the North Peace Community Foundation in partnership with the City and is generously funded through the City's general taxation revenue. This program reflects the City’s commitment to supporting community organizations that deliver cultural, social, heritage, economic, and recreational programs, facilities, and events that benefit City residents.

Eligibility

This program is open to community service organizations that contribute to the common good and benefit the residents of the City of Fort St. John in one or more of the following ways:

  • Provides programs or facilities used by youth, seniors, or other special needs groups

  • Provides facilities for public use

  • Provide supportive housing for people with special needs

  • Preserve heritage important to community character

  • Preserve an environmentally and ecologically significant area of the city

  • Offer public cultural or educational programs that promote community spirit, cohesiveness, or tolerance

  • Offer services to the public with a formal partnership with the city

Qualifications

The Organization must:

  • must be  a registered charity or non-profit in in good standing in good standing with BC Societies.

  • have previously received a Grant in Aid from the City of Fort St. John.

  • own or lease developed property within the municipal boundaries of the City of Fort St. John.

  • primarily serve residents of the City of Fort St. John.

Strong Roots Community Grant Program

The STRONG ROOTS community grant is the North Peace Community Foundation’s flagship community granting initiative, designed to strengthen the social, economic, and environmental fabric of the North Peace region. Rooted in collaboration and guided by the Foundation’s mission to inspire community-driven philanthropy, this program supports projects and organizations that build resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities. The Strong Roots program is delivered in partnership with key donor funds including:

  • The City of Fort St. John Legacy Fund

  • PETRONAS Energy Canada’s Sustainable Communities Fund

  • Peace River Hydro Partner’s Building a Better Tomorrow Fun

  1. Organizational Resilience and Workforce Wellbeing - A project or program which builds capacity and sustainability of eligible community service organizations through workforce support, leadership development, and organizational health.

  2. Community Wellbeing, Truth & Reconciliation, and Inclusion - A project or program which advances reconciliation, inclusion, and equity by addressing social and cultural barriers and strengthening community belonging.

  3. Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience - A project or program which strengthens environmental stewardship and community adaptation to climate change.

Coastal GasLink Community Fund

The Coastal GasLink Community Fund was established in 2023 through a $50,000 charitable contribution from TC Energy to build a permanent endowment whose annual distributable income supports community-based projects.

  • Community Safety & Resilience - Projects or programs which strengthen public safety, emergency preparedness, and local capacity.

  • Education & Skills Development - A project or program which supports lifelong learning, training, and workforce readiness.

  • Environment & Community Vitality - A project or program which enhances environmental stewardship and civic beauty.

  • General Resilience & Inclusion - Programs or projects which foster community pride, inclusion, and volunteer engagement.
